ChampionChip

The ChampionChip was born in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. In 1993 a prototype was used at the Seven Hills Run 15K with 7400 participants; the trial was so successful that ChampionChip was founded. Its goal was to develop a professional transponder system for automatic timing of sporting events. By 1994 a professional system was introduced to the Berlin Marathon.

How It Works

The ChampionChip Timing System is based on the high-frequency-identification system.

How To Use It

The Timing Chip should be attached using one of the following means:

Unless otherwise specified all timing chips must be worn on the ankle or lower in order for the system to read the chip identification code.
